It was through a giveaway that I get to know Ikigai Chapter and the man behind the camera, Alan. One month before our photoshoot, Alan approached us to find out what theme we will like the photoshoot to be and if there were any places we have in mind. Being our first time, he gave us some time and came back only 1-2 weeks prior. At that point, I only vision myself to be in traditional Kua and because Kua usually make people sweat quite a bit, I suggested Changi Jewel for the photoshoot. So during our video call with Alan, he raised a few pointers for us to note if we would like the venue to be at Jewel (ie. the approval we got to get from the management and the crowds).
We went back to discuss further and shortlisted 3 other venues: Raffles Marina Lighthouse, Jurong Lake Garden and Tuas Shipping Container yard - which none of me or my partner has been before. Few days before the shoot, Alan WENT THE EXTRA MILE by driving down to each venue to see which is a better option. He even took some photos for us to visualise the lighting. Our final decision was at Raffles Marina Lighthouse. However, I had a concern for wet weather since it’s the end of November and the rain is unpredictable. Alan suggested a backup plan and advised that should it rain on the day itself, we will finalise the location again BEFORE the shoot so we can all get ready and meet at the agreed location. Which was great for me and my partner since it’s our first time taking such photoshoot and we are rather flexible to go along the professional advise.
At the beginning of the shoot, it was a little awkward for us having to post infront of a photographer (like I’ve mentioned, it’s our first time) and Alan has been very patience and gave us ideas to help ease our anxiety. It was also him that guided us on how to post and etc. Things went pretty smooth and we ended up having so much FUN playing around during the shoot.
The photos turn out BETTER THAN EXPECTED and we couldn’t thank Alan more for this experience and photoshoot.. My He is an easy going guy that goes along to our preference but will come in when we needed help on venue recommendations and etc. A professional photographer that we will STRONGLY RECOMMEND!

My husband and I are very lucky to have found Alan 4 months before our actual day. Coincidentally he was the photographer for our friend’s eldest sister’s wedding so it seems like universe sent him to us, fortunately he was available on our actual day thus everything seem meant to be.
On actual day, Alan reached earlier than scheduled and started doing his thing, he was so friendly and polite to everyone and it was very kind of him to share photography tips with my Aunt, who is into photography as well. Alan was there like a friend we have known for long, there’s no awkward moments or cringe-y feels when he gave us direction on how we should pose, he will then shift himself around us to make sure he capture our best angle. Everyone had so much fun during the morning photo shoot, I was so happy I think I laughed a little too hard.
Alan was so polite when he gave instructions to my family members and guests on how they should position themselves for the group photo, the OCD in me is truly satisfied when the group photos turn out straight and well taken. Alan was quick and nimble (like a ninja lol) going from corner to corner in order to capture all the candid and precious moments. All the photos turned out so well it's like they radiate happiness and love. I cannot emphasize enough how polite and professional at the same time Alan is, the bridesmaids and groomsmen love him and his works!! They are very grateful because all of them look so good in the photos. Alan together with our bridesmaids and groomsmen worked so well together when we went through all 30 tables to take group photos. If you look at the photos and feel like crying, it is for sure the photographer did a super good job!! Thank you once again Alan, for the effort and hard work!

On the actual day, both my wife and I just leave everything to Alan. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to the actual day procedures. At every point of the event, he seems to know what to do and help direct us in a clear and articulate manner.
Alan is a very nice person to work with. Very patience, responsible, professional and always go to the extra miles to ensure that the wedding couple is happy with his service and his work.
After the wedding, we got our photos in less than a month, which is slightly faster than the timeframe given and the photos did not disappoint. All the photos are clear, bright and the angle he takes seems very professional and balance. We really do like them.
But I do have to say that we hoped there were more full body photos taken through the whole day. Perhaps this was a miscommunication on our end as we have told Alan that we love to have more closeup photos to show the details of our outfit and expression. I am sure if we have brought this up prior, Alan would gladly do so for us. Don't be mistaken, there are still a number of full body shots especially for key moments but we just hope there was a little bit more of them.
In all, we highly recommend Alan's photography service for wedding! Most importantly, he captures all the moment very well.

2 months ago, I approached Alan to help me with my proposal. As my fiancée (@yuzhu) loves photography and keeping memories of us, I thought of capturing this special, intimate & serious moment for us to remember. When I asked my fiancée if she’s happy about the proposal, she replied, “no I’m not happy.. but grateful..! Happy is an understatement.”
Similarly, I’m grateful that Alan agreed spontaneously in participating in my proposal and did a photoshoot for us at our frequently hang-out place - Gardens by the bay! Despite the difficult human crowd that day, he was able to exercise his professional judgement and effort to ensure success with the shoot.
